The new Photron FASTCAM Viewer (PFV4) is computer software for controlling the Photron high-speed camera FASTCAM series. Not only control the camera, simple image processing and simple image measurement, file conversion, as file viewer, are equipped with various functions. In addition, cooperation with the waveform input device in option is also available. PFV software had gained many fans over the years for its robustness, reliability and ease of operation. With the release of several new cameras, specifically the ultra-fast FASTCAM NOVA S20, the UHD resolution FASTCAM NOVA R5-4K, and the small body FASTCAM AX200.
Completely redesigned the GUI based on requests from PFV users around the world. A GUI that pursues sophisticated design and operability strongly supports high-speed shooting, and streamlines the time required for shooting and analysis. The tone of the UI can be selected from two colors, "dark" and "light" according to the visibility of the captured image. In addition, various functions that assist shooting and editing can be performed at will from the organized tool box. Thanks to GPU processing, multiple image processing contents can be switched ON / OFF with one click.
The software also the user to create image sequences from industry-standard file formats, including AVI (Windows video), MOV (Apple QuickTime video), TIFF ( 8-bit or 26-bit file formats), JPEG, BMP (Bitmap), PNG (Portable Network Graphics), RAW and RAWW (native camera file formats).
Photron's PFV4 include video trigger (to detect motion within the image displayed), bit shift (to select which 8 of the 12-bits are displayed for increased light sensitivity), enhanced navigation mode (divides the display area into nine squares, each controlling a different and selectable camera function), and MATLAB drivers for easy camera integration into your existing workflow.
Focus assist functionYou can display in color the areas where the camera is in focus. This is useful when you want to focus accurately and quickly, or when it is difficult to see if the subject is in focus in a dark place. Lens distortion correctionYou can use the calibration board to correct the lens distortion. Since it can be applied to live images, it is useful for checking when shooting with a wide-angle lens and for measuring from images. Whiteout warning functionColors can be added to the white areas to display them. Useful for adjusting lens aperture and lighting. Pseudo color functionImages taken with a monochrome camera can be displayed with artificial colors. * Files saved as MRAW @ bit depth of sensor will result in zero data loss as it is the native format in the camera memory. Typically, this is also the fastest.
